The City of Santa Clarita is a City in Los Angeles County
The City of Santa Clarita is the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County, California, and occupies most of the Santa Clarita Valley. It's important to understand the difference between Santa Clarita, the city, and Santa Clarita Valley (AKA SCV).
The City of Santa Clarita became official in 1987 and included four unincorporated areas, Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus, and Valencia. Though they no longer exist formally, the four communities have socially retained their separate identities. In fact, it is common for residents to refer to a specific area when asked where they are from. Even the local post office still uses the old area names. Over the years these 4 areas have grown and the boundaries have gotten very blurred.
The Santa Clarita Valley includes the ever-growing City of Santa Clarita, as well as a few other unincorporated areas including Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, and Agua Dulce.
